THIS FEELS LIKE HIGH SCHOOL!!!

"This feels like high school!!!" This is what my best friend told me at the end of Homecoming Week 2009, specifically during our Teacher Talent Show. Now, this depiction of pedagoguish aptitude isn't annual in any way. In fact, this was probably one of Mrs. Haynes' [principal] rare occasions. Well, she needs to have more of them.
My friend was right. I felt as if I were just taking a glimpse into the normalcy of high school life. Nothing "typically high school" has really happened to me yet until this year. And boy did we do Homecoming justice! Tacky Day, radio station @ pep rally, of course the Teacher Talent Show, and OUR FIST HOMECOMING GAME WIN IN 6 YEARS! Plus, it was the first football win of this season-- but let's not damper the glory.
For the first time at Jim Hill, I felt like I student, and I wasn't reluctant to say that I go to Jim Hill. "YES I GO TO JIM HILL HS!" Participation in Homecoming activities didn't leave me as the loner, unlike years past when I was the nerd or the Twiggy on their respective days. We all participated. Hall decorating was a collaborative effort even though we were only informed about it a day in advance. We seniors worked all during the coronation (sorry, no offense!), but we didn't stop there. We made posters to put in the gym for the pep rally and helped decorate teachers' doors so that they could show their school pride. The game was another thing. I actually felt accepted by those who wouldn't even look at me once, and I jammed with the band!
I had fun doing it. We all did. It wasn't just seniors who made this happen. Check Facebook - there are about fifty or so albums specifically created for "Jim Hill Homecoming". Look at our smiles and compare it to anything commercially advertised on TV shows. Don't we look like high school?
