Readin' Rain-Bro: "Greetings, fellow readers. The producers of Readin' Rain-bro present a special program commemorating the people of the Gulf Coast as they continue to rebuild their lives after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
"For most Americans, the aftermath of these natural disasters have evolved into surreal economic paradigm shifts. What a shame that another person's loss is a corporation's—or scam artist's—gain. On this episode of Readin' Rain-bro, I want to introduce readers to three books that share my sentiment.
"'Town We Lost' is a literary and pictorial tribute to Gulf Coast residents suffering from losses while rebuilding their towns—by 'Chicken' George 'Abdul X' Toby and inspired by the Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes song 'Love I Lost.'
"'They Paved Paradise, Displaced Families, Price Gouged Poor Folk and Put Up a Parking Lot' expresses the frustrations of displaced hurricane victims returning to New Orleans—by Kizzy-Mae 'Rasheeda X' Toby and inspired by the lyrics of 'Counting Crows' by Big Yellow Taxi.
"'Truth Crushed to Earth Will Rise Again and Become Newsworthy Material for All Syndicated News Media' analyzes the motives of print, television, radio and the Internet by asking: 'Will natural disasters, covered by mainstream media, improve ratings and promote consumer spending within a troubled economy?' Kunta 'Rasheed X' Toby is the author inspired by the prophetic words of Dr. Martin Luther King.
"Also, each book has a poignant standard English introduction by Lynne Cheney."
