NFL: Deuce Suspended

Courtesy Independence Bowl
New Orleans Saints running back Deuce McAllister

The NFL suspended New Orleans Saints running back Deuce McAllister on Tuesday for violating the league's anti-doping rules.

McAllister and the others were banned for four games withot pay for using various diuretics, which can be used as masking agents to conceal steroids. McAllister would be eligible to return to the team if the Saints make the playoffs. That's not going to happen.

Last Sunday's game might also be the last time you see Deuce in a Saints uniform. The Lena, Miss., native has clearly lost a step. Two major knee injuries in three years will do that to a man. And the Saints have sometimes seemed reluctant to use Deuce, despite the absence of Reggie Bush for four games because of injury.

A federal judge has halted all suspensions for now. "If you ain't cheating you aren't doing all you can to win and help your team."

Say it ain't so, Doc.

Unless he's honestly not recovering from his second surgery very well, I think the bigger problem is that Sean Payton has very little idea how to call a game that includes a coherent running game. Deuce can pick up three piles out of four and move them 4 four yards each time. He leapt into the end zone two weeks back and looked pretty spry. He caught out of the back field and looked good.

You've got a team at .500 with a QB who may end up being the all-time yardage leader in a single season.

That doesn't tell you something as a coach? Like maybe you could give one back the ball 20 times and see what happens?

If you featured Deuce as much as he should be, Reggie Kardashin would be left without opportunity to flash and dash. I don't think R. Kardashin is as helpful to the team as Deuce is, but since the Saints drafted him so high, coupled with the fact that Deuce is now old, and the fans want to see Kardashin become Barry Sanders-like or Erick Dickerson-like, the Saints gotta keep trying to feauture R. Kardadhin in lieu of Deuce.

Mybe the Saints are doing all they can. They're not the Steelers, ITodd. How about that Plexico Burris popping a cap in his own behind? Finally, we don't have to worry about him hurting the Steelers anymore this season. Too bad it wasn't Eli he hit, but I ain't hating on no quarterbacks. I want the Steelers to win it all fair and square.

Maybe you're right about Reggie, but he made a FOOL of himself last Sunday spending all that time running backwards. Do you think someone could tell him that the other teams have access to film of his prior exploits?

Meanwhile, who the hell cares about the Steelers? :-P

I didn't know your mouth was that filthy, Itodd. It has to be some kind of high sin to cuss while mentioning the Steelers. I know all Texans hate the Steelers. It goes back to those whoopings of the 70s and 80s. I hope the cowgals are our opponent in the Superbowl this year so we can repeat those awhippings. Yes, I'm aware y'all paid off our quarterback in the 90s and finally beat us once when it counted for something.

O'Donnell? I think he did that himself.

I couldn't remember his name, but I hope he dies a horrible death some day for his play in that game. Those weren't mere poor passes. He threw those passes directly to your defensive backs as if intended. I foolishly watched that game with some Cowboy fans like a damn fool expecting we would do what we always did to y'all. I knew y'all had the best team but I figured y'all were scared of the black and gold. Plus, I thought Michael Irvin or that fool that got caught with 2 vans full of dope might just drop down and start snorting the lines on the field. That was cold. I apologize.
