The buzz for the last couple of days has centered around a possible new development in the Gluckstadt area that would include a new water park and a 15k-seat amphitheater. A water park is a great idea. After all, we have to drive to Baton Rouge, Philadelphia and Collins to get to the closest parks. Having one here would keep some of those dollars closest to home.
The amphitheater, however, concerns me a bit. While nice to have, I am concerned it might stymie Jackson's chances for a large performance venue downtown. If Jackson had the size of Atlanta or Dallas/Fort Worth, it wouldn't be a concern at all. Maybe we could support two large venues. What's your thoughts?
COMMENTSmy take is this: if someone, ANYONE will build a venue, it’s better than nothing. sure, i’d love for it to be in jackson, too, but if someone is making progress, i say more power to them.
