OK, what animals do y'all know of in the community that are "famous" in some way—meaning have to know people beyond their owners. Pets that live in businesses? Pets with lots of friends? You get my drift. Need fast!

Well, um, its quite possible that I have the fattest cat in the metro area...but that ain't made him famous yet. Although, it does usually garner a "that's a big a$$ cat" from most guests.
My stepfather is a photographer and my parent's yorkie "Marley" runs the studio with him. All the kids know him....he answers the door. His professional portraits are also all over the place. One is hanging in his booth in Northpark Mall. But, he's technically in Ridgeland...so he ain't a Jackson dog. In fact, now that I think about it, that little ankle biter is "Madison" all the way.

Clyde Frog is an excellent example. Although, his current whereabouts are unknown.
I still say we need a campaign to "Free Clyde Frog."

I forget his name but there is a sweet, precious dog at Swell-o-phonic. He will bring you his toy just so you will chase him. Or her. Either way, when I go with the nephew, this pet always brightens my day.
My precious angel is famous in my world!

Don Potts' miniature horse
Cici, Ralph Foster's dog who runs Habana Smoke Shop
we have infamous in our neighborhood: a family walks their pets 4-5 times a day, so envision this.....two large dogs (90-100 lbs ea.), a miniature Dachshund (2lbs) all on leashes with the family cat following up the rear. Until this I didn't know you could walk a cat.

In our neighborhood there is an old yellow lab named Elvis. Every day he makes his rounds around the neighborhood going from door to door to get his treats. He knows which houses to go to and when to get there- he will actually "knock" on the door, and when you answer I swear to God that he grins at you!
Everyone in the area (not just our neighborhood but others as well) knows him- in fact more than once we have been in the pet food section of the grocery store buying treats for him and have run into others who were doing the same thing!
He comes around once or twice every day but he doesn't stay long- Elvis's real love is the lady dogs!
He is more like his namesake than any dog I have ever seen!

Our dog "Disco" is loved at the soccer fields in Clinton. He draws a crowd when we let him "play" a game.

Yes, some cats can tolerate a walk. When my cat was a kitten, I tried to teach him to walk on a leash, but I quit after I found myself dragging him several feet without knowing it because he refused to continue.
By the way, does anyone remember the little pug that used to appear on the J.L. Jones furniture commercials? He used to wear a football jersey. What was his name?

Yep. I had a cat named Iggie who would tag along when I walked my dog. He would follow us for miles.

I have Hercules (my not so miniature Miniature Schnauzer). He is the Defender of the Realm, Scourge of the Backyard, the mere mention of his name strikes fear in the hearts of squirrels for blocks. He thinks he is a Rottweiler, gets him into trouble with bigger dogs. All the kids in the neighborhood love him. He has been my constant companion through 4 yrs of cancer treatment, he knows when I don't feel good and a knows when I do and it's time to play. He might not be famous to everyone but he is to me.
