I have class but I wish I could be there. I will spread the word around campus here at JSU. Good luck and keep up the good work.

You know, Michelle makes a good point in her release. Why on earth are abortion-rights supporters in this state so damn afraid to speak up about it?

Find your backbone, people.

If men could get pregnant we wouldn't need this rally or any conversation about abortions. Nor do I believe there would be much conversation about contraception. If you think the joker ran when you told him you were pregant. Juxtapose that to telling the same joker he's pregnant. Graveyards and mental institutions would supplant prisons.

If we men could get pregnant, instead of rallies, there would be incentives, cash rewards, lotteries, and countless other offers of worldly wealth and prominence to get men to give it up the first time. And these offers wouldn't be being made to any teenagers or men in their twenties and thirties. Surely they wouldn't do it. These inducements would be being made to men in their forties and fifties who had otherewise failed to succeed in life. We would have countless men in their sixties and seventies who have never considered sleeping with a woman.

Goos luck women on keeping your right to choose.

It is important for Mississippians to look carefully at this proposed "abortion bill."

The pending bill allows abortion for the following reasons: "health" of the mother, rape, and incest.

This bill does not consider "therapeutic" abortions, such as anencephaly, (no brain), oligohydramnios, (no amniotic fluid), and a number of other fatal fetal disorders.

What will happen to a woman discovered at 23 weeks to have a fetus without a brain? This fetus CANNOT survive. Should she have to carry this fetus to term?

At this time, most of these "discovered" fatal fetal abnormalities are terminated at the time of discovery.

The proposed abortion bill, in my reading, will require that women in these desperate situations receive their pregnancy care in another state, adding insult to injury.

H.D., good point. Salon.com did a special on exactly this problem when the partial-birth abortion ban came up, which didn't even have a health exception--so that a woman who is in the final months of pregnancy with an anencephalic infant under circumstances that could threaten her ability to become pregnant later still has to give birth, and compound the grief of a stillbirth with the inability to have any more children. And all for political reasons.

Not that the guys who write this kind of legislation care, mind you. Because worrying about technical little details like the shattered lives of women they're leaving in their wake could interfere with getting the almighty vote.

Cheers,
