In recent days, two outstanding Mississippi women journalists have died.
Mildred Dearborn was the long-time editor of The Carthaginian until two years ago, when she suffered a stroke. Dearborn died on Feb. 11.
Phillis Harper was a columnist and feature writer for the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal until her retirement in 1997, and reportedly continued writing for publication from time to time. Harper died on Feb. 12.
The journalism community will miss them both.
