JFP Events ‘Beta’ Site

A combination of some late nights fighting all sorts of code (PHP, EE, HTML, CSS) by Yours Truly and many hours of hard work by our new Events Editor, Roy Adkins, the "JFP Events" online calendar is now a *live* beta. ;-) Many things are finalized (I hope), but I've just had to switch some URLs around and there may be a few broken spots.

Check it out and then please respond here with any praise, advice, criticisms or bugs that you encounter. Also, if you have other feature requests or thoughts, I'd love to hear them. Thanks!

Bump. The calendar prioritizes unique entries (entries for a particular day) so check out days like Nov. 21 and 22 to see events going on those days. Good? Bad? Indifferent?

Todd, your part is looking great, nice work on the output format . . . now if Donna will just let us print it that way in the paper . . .

I like the layout - easy on the eyes. Question: Do I have access to any of this to correct errors? I see a couple.

Talk to the boyz. ;-)

sadly, I have no idea, but I know I can fix them if you email the errors to me

What's cool is that this will be a planner extending as far out in the future as we have events to put in, as soon as Roy has had the chance to beef it up. SO, if you know of any future event that he can add, please send it to him at that e-mail address he just posted. Jackson desperately needs one place where event planners can look and see what is planned in the future—from festivals to fund raisers and everything in between—and this is it! So, y'all help us out and get Roy information. And tell us about any bugs you see.

More features are coming in the future as well.

Some other pages I've been working on:

Movie Times: http://www.jacksonfreepress.com/jfp.php/events/movies/
Weather: http://www.jacksonfreepress.com/jfp.php/site/weather/

I'd love feedback on this, as well as any wish-list ideas you regulars have for the overall update to the site.

Is there any chance of getting new comments made in the "forum" section of the JFP site to show up in the "100 recent comments" section? I think that it used to do it before the upgrade....
