Intuit Offers $1000 Local Business Grants
Intuit, the folks who make QuickBooks and Quicken software, have a fun little contest going on. Called "Love a Local Business," the promotion lets you nominate a small business as a deserving business, and then encourage others to vote and comment on that business. Those with the most support (or the most effective comments) can receive a $1000 "grant" (it's a $500 Visa prepaid and $500 worth of Intuit stuff) if they get support of their community and some interesting comments along the way.
Here's a widget that can get you started:
I've nominated High Noon Cafe if anyone would care to vote for them as well and leave comments. Or, if you vote for another small business, let us know here on this entry so we go vote for them as well.

I love the woman that owns this business. She's very friendly and does quality work. She has been there for 19 years and works solo. She deserves the grant because she supported two children while running her business full-time all by herself.
