Highly recommended is the CD release party for Claire Holley on Friday, May 30, 7:30 p.m. in the St. Andrew’s Cathedral on Capital Street. The native acoustic roots-rocker grew out of the Thacker Mountain, Cary Hudson, Caroline Herring “new southern roots” genre to become a world-class singer/songwriter. In 2005 Herring joined Holley for a live album recorded at St. Andrews and since then her music has been featured on ABC’s “Men in Trees,” and will be in upcoming indie films. The lush quiet that her new album “Hush” evokes freezes time and makes you feel your own personal “worship” amidst the cathedral walls.

The city’s biggest outdoor annual rock festival Jubilee!JAM, has announced their June 13-14 lineup at jubileejam.com. Friday will have ZZ Top, the Ohio Players, Blind Melon, Eric Church, Mel Waiters, Hurt, Blue Mountain, Egypt Central, Endeverafter, Backdoor Slam, Jonezetta, and Speakeasy. Slated for Saturday is Three 6 Mafia, Robert Randolf’s Revival, Shinedown, Old Crow Medicine Show, Lucero, Pat Green, North Mississippi All Stars, Citizen Cope, Mississippi Mass Choir, Kamikaze, Saving Abel, At Cliff’s End, and Absence of Concern. Tickets are available at Be-Bop, the coliseum box office or Ticketmaster.com for $23 each day/$40 for the two-day pass in advance, $28/$50 at the gate. Unofficially, P-Funk is down for Saturday (according to George Clinton's website), but the Jubilee Jam folks have not confirmed that.

It’s but a six-hour drive to Bonnaroo in Manchester, Tenn., June 12-15 for Les Claypool, Jack Johnson, Pearl Jam, Sigur Ros, Robert Plant, Phil Lesh, Death Cab for Cutie, Tiesto, Raconteurs, Willie Nelson, B.B. King, Ben Folds, Broken Social Scene, Iron & Wine, Ladytron and Jose Gonzales. Stay turned for the New Orleans Voodoo Fest announcement. So far they have Nine Inch Nails, R.E.M., Stone Temple Pilots and Rev. Horton Heat.
