Deuce McAllister’s Season Ends

Ouch. This sucks. It looks like Deuce has another torn ACL and will be out for the season. Once again he'll have to go through knee surgery and then a painful recoup process:

Now McAllister needs reconstructive surgery on the other knee, likely a patellar tendon graft, followed by the long, painful rehabilitation that will last almost until 2008 training camp begins, if not longer.

According to the story, even if Deuce has played his last game, the 28-year-old leaves New Orleans with most of its franchise's top rushing records. That said, he's still young, and he's got 5 years left on an 8-year, $50 million deal.

Props to the hometown:

Although someone with his money easily could spend offseasons in Miami, Malibu or the French Riviera, he continues to make his permanent home in Jackson, He owns car dealerships there, is restoring a historic downtown hotel, and runs his charitable Catch-22 foundation, so named for his college jersey number.
Go Deuce. We're rooting for you.

I hope Deuce keeps his head up. He will get his ring in a fashion much like Jerome Bettis if he sticks to it. Did you know he has over 5000 yards with the Saints. That's not too shabby.

He's still a winner in my book, especially because of how he is helping Jackson.

That's a bad break, but I definitely admire the guy.

This will give him more time to oversee all his businesses in Jackson. I wonder if he's thought about opening a tapas bar?
