Those of us who watch a little too much football between teams that don't matter to us personally are probably doing it so that we can witness a game like the Frito-Lay Cool Ranch Tostito Dippers Fiesta Bowl that I just watched between Boise State and OU. OK, so I hate OU from my childhood in Dallas and for them having foisted, indirectly, Barry Switzer on my once-beloved Cowboys.
If you didn't see it, you'll see it again anyway...on YouTube, on highlight reels. I've finally gotten to see my "The Play" or "The Drive" moment in living color as it happened. If it doesn't end up dubbed "The Call" (or "The Calls"?) then I'll eat my New Orlean's Saints ballcap. Amazing...
... Who calls for a 15-yard pass and a designed hook-and-ladder lateral on a 4th-and-18 with the season on the line?
... Who sends the quarterback in motion on a 4th-and-Goal play with the game -- in overtime -- on the line?
... Who goes for 2 points in overtime instead of getting the certain 1 point and relying on your defense to hold the other guys?
... Who calls a modified "Statue of Liberty" -- after the other team has taken a time out in order to line up everyone they need to stop you -- to get those 2 points and end a perfect season with a BCS bowl game victory?
I'll be telling my grandkids about it. Heck...anybody's grandkids.

COMMENTSWhat an amazing football game. At the end, Todd and I were yelling so loudly that we terrified all the cats. Boise State—Who Dat?

That was a great game. Clips are already on youtube and I've watched them several times. Just unbelieveable. Only thing they didn't run was a single wing formation and that is probably because they ran out of time.
by the way, was that you two in McDades NY Eve?

I was yelling right along with you guys. The thing I was impressed with was how well those plays were executed.
On that hook and ladder, the first receiver ran just long enough with the ball to draw the whole defense with him. And that Statue of Liberty play was a thing of beauty.
And how about the 3 2-point conversion attempts by OU (first 2 called back for penalties)? That was already more excitement than you get in most of these bowl games.
That was a whole bucket of fun.
Now I just hope my Gators can somehow stop OSU and win the Title. Go Gators!

Were we in McDade's New Year's eve? Hmm. I know we bought milk somewhere...at some time...that might have been it. :-)

Well, we did go to two late parties. If that counts. ;-) (And I suspect he saw us New Year's Eve-Eve, but I don't keep a schedule of when I go to McDade's.)

I was standing next to you two in line Sunday night. You had a weird shaped piece of bread. I thought you two looked familiar is why I looked at you kind of funny. I live one block away from there.

It's flatbread, King. Wasn't that Saturday night? That was the cook-in, stay-the-hell-away-from-people night. That was you, huh? I had you pictured differently—more dastardly looking.

saturday night it was mam. I had just gotten in from Louisiana and was worn out. Thought it was you two. Gimme credit for being alert. ;-)
I just hadn't seen that before except as dough.
You are also alot taller than I thought you would be. hell, I think I had to look up to you. iTodd seemed like a lively little sprite. ;-)

Easy, 'Fish. You'll get your butt banned fast talking like that.
And, of course, you had to look at to me.

huh?
Look at to me?
I assume you meant I had to look up at you.
It was meant in a good way. I don't mind getting banned for paying compliments.
I will say your pics in the free press do not do you justice. ;-)

I think she means you could get banned for talking about me like I'm the Lucky Charms leprechaun. "Lively little sprite?" :-P

Back to the game...I couldn't stay up to watch it, but I know I missed a dandy. I had a feeling that OU (whom I was rooting for) would come back and win (which they almost pulled off). But if there's one thing that oughta come out of it is the push for a playoff system. Boise State and Utah a couple of years proved that they can play with and beat the big boys (though the Pitt team Utah beat in the Fiesta a couple of years ago wasn't all that good).

I agree, golden boy. Enough elitism.
And, yes, 'Fish, I (a) was kidding and (b) talking about the iTodd banning you for such comments. ;-)
Funny to see you get a taste of your own medicine, though. Ha.
