by J. Bingo Holman
July 10, 2003

Jay Sones, 28, sits across the small table at Fenian's talking on his cell phone (the kind you can send pictures through) with his baby sister, Meg. He tells her that I'm interviewing him and responds when she asks…

Rusty Pyron

by J. Bingo Holman
June 12, 2003

The glass door with the word "Tattoo" painted on it in red opens into a room painted in neutral colors. Inside Eternal Body Art, customers flip through plastic poster-sized files attached to the walls filled with flash art. Rusty Pyron, 36, stands behind a glass case filled with nose rings, naval rings, tongue rings and large gage earrings beside his wife of 14 years, Lisa, and their 6-year-old daughter, Cheyenne. Wearing a dark blue "Piraņa" t-shirt, dark blue jeans, flame-decorated suspenders and "more than one and less than a hundred" tattoos, Pyron creates a forceful presence. Not an overly tall man, about 5'9", he nonetheless appears menacing until he begins to talk, blue eyes flashing, about his daughter, whom he repeatedly refers to as his inspiration. "That's my girl right there, now," he says.

Elizabeth Robinson

Elizabeth Robinson did not take art classes while enrolled at the Mississippi University for Women. Until the school featured a 20-year retrospective of her work, she did not even know where the art department was located. In fact, glass sculpture wasn't located anywhere on her personal radar until, in 1980,…
