Labor Day is almost here. It’s a time to celebrate the hard working people of this country. Ronnie Musgrove says he created jobs for Mississippi - but his schemes created failure and scandal.

Executives with a company caught up in the failed Mississippi beef plant scandal plead guilty to giving campaign contributions to Musgrove so he would support project. A project that crashed before it lifted off and cost Miss. taxpayers more than $50 million and how many jobs?

Now Musgrove supports the bogus union backed “Employee Free Choice Act”. This “card-check” method of unionizing takes away private ballots in the workplace and jeopardizes jobs. Workers’ rights and Mississippi’s status as one of 22 right-to-work states will be threatened under card check. Workers will be intimidated and scandals won’t be far behind. Few believe automakers would have chosen Mississippi if we were a forced-union state.

For Ronnie Musgrove, Labor Day means following the orders of big labor and collecting campaign contributions, not honoring the American worker.

I feel compelled to mention what happened early this morning in Belhaven...very close to where I live. I was awakened at approx 5:30 AM by gunshots...it turns out that the shooter was a resident of a local apartment complex defending his property...someone was breaking into his car...the car owner emptied his chamber, wounding thief. There was another thief who got away on foot...the injured thief sought treatment at Baptist...not sure if he’s still there or not.

These two thugs broke into at least 5 cars before their little escapade was ended.

What makes this even more scary is that, while the property owner did indeed wound the thief, he also sent several rounds into the wall of a neighboring apartment complex...one round even went through the rear window of one of these adjacent apartments...thank God that no one over there was hurt...I’m sure all this will come out in the local press shortly.

This was a very scary situation for all involved...it’s time that something be done about this exponential rise in crime...we have an ineffective mayor folks...and apparently an ineffective council as well.

I found out very early this afternoon that the Roberts Brothers were in town and word is that they just Purchased The Edison Walthall hotel.
The Brother’s own CW34 TV & WRBJ 977 on State, These guys are a family of very wealthy African American Men who own Property all of the US this will be a great move for Jackson seems to be Moving Forward.

Additional info i found online from Bizjournals.com

The Roberts brothers’ hotel portfolio also includes the 182-room Roberts Mayfair Hotel at Eighth and Charles streets downtown and hotels in Tampa, Fla.; Marietta, Ga.; Dallas and Houston, Texas; Shreveport, La.; and Spartanburg, S.C. Roberts Brothers Properties also is building a $50 million, 25-story condo tower adjacent to the Roberts Mayfair Hotel. Roberts Cos. other holdings include an aviation company, television broadcasting properties, a broadcast tower company, and a real estate and construction management firm. The private company had $98 million in revenue in 2006.

There currently are nine Hotel Indigo properties in North America and 50 more hotels in the pipeline. The first Hotel Indigo opened in Atlanta in 2004. The Hotel Indigo brand was developed primarily for conversions and touts itself as an upscale branded boutique hotel. “We love the energy of what’s going on in downtown St. Louis, and it’s certainly being replicated in other downtowns across the country,” said Jim Anhut, senior vice president of brand management for Hotel Indigo. “We like to be in re-generating urban areas and near-urban areas.”

Hotel Indigo brand hotels typically have 130 to 160 rooms, and each property has its own design characteristics. “In our research, we found that customers are interested in something that’s other than cookie cutter,” Anhut said. “We combine the benefits of a big branding organization with the style, savvy and service personality of a boutique hotel.”

Roberts Hotels Group’s acquisition of the WS Hotel occurred in the midst of a high level of hotel investment sale activity in St. Louis. Through the end of August, more than 25 hotels in the St. Louis metropolitan area were sold, totaling more than $408 million in deals according to New York-based research firm Real Capital Analytics. That’s up from only four hotel sales in St. Louis in 2006.
