Light the Night is The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's nationwide evening walk to celebrate and commemorate lives touched by cancer. Each fall, teams of friends, family members and co-workers gather in cities and towns across America. They walk in twilight, holding illuminated balloons - white for survivors, red for supporters and gold in memory of those who have lost their lives to cancer. More than a walk, the evening includes music, food and family activities. Funds raised support the Society's mission: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.

“This Is What Women Want”

Hear directly from a range of women about what they want the night before the first Presidential Debate. Women have been too much talked about and not enough listened to this election cycle. And it's no surprise why: the Pew Research Center found that only 30% of U.S. news coverage included even one female source. The White House Project found that only 14% of the guests on Sunday morning public affair talk shows are female. And the National Urban League found that in an eighteen-month period only three black women appeared on these shows. That's why the Center for New Words has launched this election event–the only national public project dedicated to spotlighting the diverse political voices of real women this fall.
