The Mississippi Pulp Con will be a celebration of pop-culture and art. There will be several artists, authors and film makers as well as many unique vendors. Artist Guest of Honor is Billy Tackett from Kentucky. Billy is a creator of fantasy art and is most famous for his “zombie” pieces including his internationally recognized “Zombie Uncle Sam”. See
Billy’s work at billytackett.com. The author Guest of Honor is Dr. Alan Brown. For the past several years, Dr. Brown’s interest in Southern folklore has manifested itself in several collections of Southern ghost stories, including The Face in the Window and Other Alabama Ghostlore (1996), Shadows and Cypress (200), Haunted Places in the American South (2002), Stories from the
Haunted South (2004), Ghost Hunters of the South (2006), Haunted Georgia (2007), Haunted Texas (2008), Ghost Hunters of New England (2008), Haunted Tennessee (2008), Haunted Kentucky (2009), Haunted Birmingham (2009), Haunted Vicksburg (2010), and Haunted Natchez (2010). The Film Maker Guest of Honor is Richard Landry. Richard just got through with his post-production work on “GI Joe 2 : Retaliation” and
has worked on films such as “Red” and “Season of the Witch”.
There will be many artists and authors present and discussion panels will be open to all visitors. A dance workshop will be given by Alia Thabit and is brought to you by Joyflow Yoga (extra price to attend this thorough workshop - Contact Joyflow Yoga at 7048 Old Canton Rd, 2F, Ridgeland, MS 39157 · 601-613-4317) The “Blackhearts Ball” will begin at 9:00pm and run until midnight. You won’t want to miss the special performances by the MissiHIPPY dance group with their unique choreography and seductive costuming. Many guests will be added as sponsorship grows and the vendor list will grow as well. We are planning a small film festival as part of the MS Pulp Con. Advanced visitors passes will be available by mid December and will cost $10 each. Price at the door will be $15.
Visitors get “all access” to the special guests, the vendors, the film festival and all the wonderful artists and authors and film guests.
