Spring Break

After the Spring Break Festival on March 16 from 1-3 p.m., a series of "Spring Break Art Break" classes for children will be held March 17-19 in the museum annex. Classes for grades K-3 are from 10 a.m.-noon, and classes for grades 4-6 are from 2-4 p.m. A reservation is required; space is limited.

National Cutting Horse Association Eastern National Championships

Annual Belhaven Student Exhibition

PBS Kids Go! Writers Contest

Children in kindergarten through 3rd grade can submit their own original stories with illustrations and the official entry forms to Mississippi Public Broadcasting (MPB). First, second and third place winners will be chosen for each grade level and given special prizes. Winners also will be invited to an awards celebration held May 10 and have their stories recorded on MPB Radio. MPB’s first place winners will advance to the national competition where they will compete for prizes such as laptops, digital cameras and MP3 players. Mississippi State University's Jackson Community Design Center (JCDC) will host a design competition and symposium focused on the inherent challenges and immense potential for socioeconomic and environmental reconciliation by addressing barriers created by an urban divide. FORMCities calls for design proposals to address the negative impacts of urban forms and transportation thoroughfares which have created visual, physical and psychological barriers along the lines of race, income and class.
