"A Year with Frog and Toad"

The New Stage Children’s Theatre production is based on the books by Arnold Lobel, The musical follows two great friends, the cheerful and popular Frog and the rather grumpy Toad through four fun-filled seasons. Show times are at 2 p.m. on Feb. 27 and March 6-7, and 7 p.m. on March 5.

Financial Assistance for Organic Farmers

The USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) has over $900 thousand dollars to help Mississippi farmers produce organic products and to introduce growers to high tunnel structures that extend the growing season for crops. The deadline for landowners to apply for funds is March 12.

Jim Henson's Fantastic World

This exhibit offers a rare glimpse into the imagination and creative genius of the multi-talented innovator and creator of beloved characters like Kermit the Frog, Big Bird, and hundreds of others. From the beginning, the Mississippi-native expressed his ideas in incredible bursts of invention, through a variety of visual forms, clever dialogue, songs, comic bits, and animation. This exhibition presents original artwork, including drawings and cartoons, as well as other objects like puppets and movie props, all of which reveal the brilliant mind of their creator.

Annual Belhaven Student Exhibition

PBS Kids Go! Writers Contest
Jan 27 – Mar 31.
Children in kindergarten through 3rd grade can submit their own original stories with illustrations and the official entry forms to Mississippi Public Broadcasting (MPB). First, second and third place winners will be chosen for each grade level and given special prizes. Winners also will be invited to an awards celebration held May 10 and have their stories recorded on MPB Radio. MPB’s first place winners will advance to the national competition where they will compete for prizes such as laptops, digital cameras and MP3 players. Applications are available online at mpbonline.org/mpbkids.

National Youth Art Month Exhibit

"Backyards and Beyond"

The traveling exhibition of over 80 paintings and sculptures by well acclaimed Mississippi artist H.C. Porter is paired with audio recordings. The focus of the exhibition is life after Hurricane Katrina on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Proceeds benefit the non-profit organization Backyards and Beyond.
