"Kinetic Vapor"
Sep 14 – Dec 31.
The artwork is made from aluminum wall panels, reflected natural light, and color-shifting LEDs that span a 100’ x 9’6” section of the mezzanine wall overlooking the Jackson Convention Complex’s east lobby. It was created by NunoErin, a Jackson arts studio.

Storytellers Ball Juried Exhibition Call for Art
Feb 24 – Jun 14.
The Greater Jackson Arts Council seeks artwork in preparation for the Aug. 9 Storytellers Ball. This year's theme is "Blame It On the Blues." The deadline for entry form and digital images is June 14. The exhibition is July 17-Aug. 31. The opening reception is July 17 from 6-8 p.m. and also includes works from Sharon McConnell-Dickerson, Sandra Murchison and Ken Murphy.

"Curious George Saves the Day: The Art of Margret and H. A. Rey"
Mar 3 – Jul 22.
Featuring nearly 80 original drawings and preparatory dummies for the Reys' children’s books and documentation related to their escape from Nazi-occupied Europe, the exhibition examines the parallels between the obstacles the Reys faced and the drawings that may have saved their lives. The Mississippi Museum of Art, in collaboration with Jackson State University, hosts The Walter O. Evans Collection of African American Art from March 28 through June 24, 2012. The exhibition features 40 works by renowned African American artists spanning a period of 150 years, including works by Jacob Lawrence, one of the country’s best-known 20th century African American painters.

"Storyland: A Trip Through Childhood Favorites"

The interactive exhibit for ages 8 and younger is derived from seven children's picture books. The members-only preview pary is May 18 at 6 p.m., and the opening celebration is May 19 at 9 a.m. The exhibit hangs through Aug. 26. Open Tuesday-Saturday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday from 1-6 p.m. Aug. 19-26, visitors who wear an official Storyland T-shirt (sold at Louis Lefleur’s Trading Post) receive $3 off admission.
