Music in the City: Tue, Sep 9, 5:15 pm.; This new partnership with St. Andrew’s Episcopal Cathedral encourages Jacksonians to stay downtown for some culture and fun. Designed for enjoyment on its own or as a warm-up for other evening obligations, this event features such entertainers as Lester Senter and John Paul performing French love songs, Marta and Danuta Szlubowska in a recital of Chamber Music for violin and piano and Sibyl Child and John Paul performing songs of Claude Debussy. WellsFest 2008: Sat, Sep 27, 8:00 am.; This annual family-friendly music festival also includes a 5K run and walk and one-mile fun run, arts and crafts, a silent auction of goods and services, coffee and desserts, soft drinks and McAlister’s tea, and a wide variety of children’s activities. All proceeds will go to New Life for Women, which helps homeless women confronting problems with alcohol and drug abuse. Special activities planned for this year’s 25th anniversary include a reunion of the surviving members of The Tangents, a pet parade at 10 a.m. and a live auction at noon of art by longtime contributing artists including Wyatt Waters.; Jamie Fowler Boyll Park.; Free.

Fifth Annual Wing Dang Doodle Festival: Sat, Sep 27, 11:19 am.; Get your teams together and cook up your best chicken wings to vie for bragging rights and a $1,000 grand prize for the best grilled/smoked or fried chicken wings. The deadline is September 1, 2008. Cash prizes will be given for the best wings in each category, and a $1,000 goes to the grand prize winner. This year’s event will feature blues musician Eden Brent. Activities are planned for every age group: arts and crafts, a pet show and parade, and motorcycle show. OUToberfest: Oct 9 – Oct 12.; The brainchild of Unity Mississippi and the result of an 86% approval rating of a constitutional amendment that intentionally limits marriage between a man and a woman, OUToberfest is a celebration of the Mississippi lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender/transexual, and queer community (and our friends) and features many local and national organizations, groups, businesses, artists, musicians and more. "The Fall": Sat, Oct 18, 6:00 pm.; The Mississippi Improv Alliance in conjunction with Cynthia Newland of the Belhaven Dance Department and Duncan Dance/a modern dance company present an evening of dance-centered improvisation. A series of 3 directed dance-improvisations will focus on dissolution and the possibilities inherent within. Three Kings: "The King of Germany": Tue, Mar 10, 7:30 pm.; "The King of Germany" will present Mozart’s "Coronation Mass," Handel’s "Zadok the Priest" and Parry’s "I was Glad." Puccini's Suor Angelica and Mascagni's Cavalleria Rusticana: Sat, Apr 4, 7:30 pm.; A powerful double-bill of verismo tragedies: Puccini's Suor Angelica paralleling its theme of desire, guilt and punishment for mortal sins yielding to divine forgiveness and the redeeming power of true faith paired with Mascagni's Cavalleria Rusticana and its presentation of the results of jealousy and revenge.
