- The beneficiaries of this golf tournament are the Friends of the Hospital, a nonprofit created to benefit the Blair E. Batson Hospital for Children at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, and Birdies for Charity, an opportunity for charities to raise money for a particular organization based on the number of birdies made by PGA Tour players during the Viking Classic. Cooking demonstrations in the Viking Culinary Tent will showcase the talents of chefs Cat Cora, Kent Rathburn and Kevin Rathburn.

- Fifth Annual Wing Dang Doodle Festival

- Get your teams together and cook up your best chicken wings to vie for bragging rights and a $1,000 grand prize for the best grilled/smoked or fried chicken wings. The deadline is September 1, 2008. Cash prizes will be given for the best wings in each category, and a $1,000 goes to the grand prize winner. This years event will feature blues musician Eden Brent. Activities are planned for every age group: arts and crafts, a pet show and parade, and motorcycle show. Forest Community Arts will be providing arts and crafts for the children.
