Just wanted to give proper kudos to Ray with his success in the Flowers case. Please understand Ray that eventually I do not want you to prevail in your defense of this 'alleged' multiple murderer. Notwithstanding, ya'll did manage to overturn his death penaltys several times- By catching them creating error after error and thus the reversals, it so financially strapped the county that they didn't even seek the death penalty this time, and by securing a hung jury in the face of three prior convictioins, I think you have done your job and an outstanding job at that-

Thanks Randy. As a lawyer who has been in many battles as well, I know you understand the job both sides do. As I tell jurors, people like me make the jury system work as designed. I don't hate on the prosecutors for working hard to convict a person they think is guilty. I want the prosecutor to be hard on crime and criminals but fair in the prosecutions. The public needs and deserves that. I insist that everyone is treated the same regardless of who they are. I also tell jurors that I don't apologize for being a tough, hard-nosed, creative and inventive defense attorney. When I can't do these things anymore, I will quit. I won't pretend to be a defense attorney while not really caring about the best interest of my client, no matter the accusations. It's not my job to help the prosecution, and it's not their job to help me; but I will take any help I can get from them since I have this awesome uphill battle in nearly every case. Hopefully, the Flowers' case won't wind up sending all of us into early retirement for the inability to ever conclude it. Believe me the judge, prosecutors and defense attorneys want this case over with.

Although I have been successful at this job so far, I don't brag or let my head get big for nearly every case is a battle I'm supposed to lose, and someday when not up to the task, I will start to lose often resulting in my client being found guilty of capital murder and they will get executed. Until that day, I will do all I can while I can.

Ray, I share Randy's thoughts and also give praise for your legal genius.

You should write a book. You say so many things through you satirical style of commenting that would be helpful to law students. There are entirely too many errors made; however, this is true in most professions. It just seems that the legal end has a serious disporproportion.

Lord Have Mercy. I don't know that I have any genius. I'm a born fighter and competitor, and the good Lord gave me good sense. Every job around here is a team effort. It may be shocking to some of you to learn I don't like to talk about myself except for when I'm joking or trying to pass on some wisdom to someone in need.

Thanks so much Justjess. Can we now move on to somebody and a topic worthy of discussion. He, he.

All six of those prosecutors are probably working hard right now, including scheming, to make sure Andre and I get the next time what they surely thought we would get the last time.

I am surprised that some of the victims survivors haven't just taken him out. They would have FAR more rights as his killer than they do as the victims. Defense lawyers who try to make a name (and a check) for themselves, with endless appeals on technicalities, at the expense of victims and taxpayers are beneath contempt! I suspect that a condition for graduation from law school may be surgical removal of their consciences! The guy has been found guilty 3 times and these scum continue to try to set this viscious killer free. This is, unfortunately typical of what our CRIMINAL justice? system has become.

This is my last comment on this. Talented people make names for themselves no matter what they do. I was a civil defense lawyer once upon a time, and surely would have made a name for myself there too except I hated the low life people I worked with and for. As an alternative to doing cesspool work, I decided to help the poor, an honorable job in my opinion.

Those persons who saw the murders being committed should be witnesses, not mere commentators. I share the pain of the victims and bystanders, but should not be blamed for forcing the prosecution to prove their case by facts, not mere conjecture, suppositions or possibilities.

Surely you jest. Ninety-five percent of criminal defense lawyers have given up the big bucks to do their jobs. Our public defenders, including the redoubtable Mr. Carter and his colleagues, are underpaid and overworked.

If you want to know what costs the taxpayers, it's prosecutors (like the one in this case) who disobey prior Court rulings on purpose to get a tactical edge at trial and have their cases reversed again and again by the appeals courts.

I didn't say procecuters are saints and that defense lawyers are all evil.
They're ALL just lawyers!!
And lawyers of all stripes have destroyed our CRIMINAL justice? system with their stupid games instead of determining if a person is guilty and allowing JUSTICE to prevail. The jury answered the question more than once, in this case, and the lawyers continue to play their stupid games at the expense of the victims AND the taxpayers.
A pox on them ALL!

The prosecutors cheated every time Flowers lost. Believe it, if the conduct wasn't egregious the Mississippi Supreme Court wouldn't have reversed the case.

But the only time the prosecutors followed the rules was the last trial, and then the jury could not agree. There is a lot of doubt about Flowers' guilt.

I guess that provides a good reason for a killer to insure there are NO survivors.

Does anyone even care about TRUTH or is it just which lawyer played the game better??

The point of the rules is to block the decision-makers (the jury in this kind of case) from considering half-truths and innuendo, so that they can find the truth. If both sets of lawyers are conscientious and ethical, the jury will get the facts and can find the truth. I have seen that happen more often than not.

The truth is supposedly what it's all about. Yet it's often the hardest thing to capture, discern or set forth. Since I didn't see the crimes I don't know the truth beyond what was I have been told and what was shown at trial. Different people can arrive at different conclusions or truths from the evidence.

Hanging is a two way street though. It only takes one to prevent an acquittal as well.

Hey RAY!!!!!!!!!

Yes, you King.

Belated "Kudos" on your success in the FLOWERS case.

And you know what?

It never ceases to amaze me that at least 80% of the men I
know, associate with or am Pals with---are lawyers.

That is just so amazing to me.

And I hate lawyers!

LOL!!!

Thanks Tab. I'm just trying to do a good, honorable and necessary job without drawing too much attention to myself. I'm not that crazy about lawyers either!
