Sad news to report as former local radio personality Scott Mateer has passed away at age 46. You may remember Scott from his days at the old 94TYX and Miss 103. He also worked at 98.7 when it was country and at 105.9 when it was an oldies station. At the time of his death, he was married to Shari Schneider, a former DJ at WJDX. He was also an up-and-coming music producer and songwriter. What a tragic loss to the community.

Here's a link to the sad news.

Sad. He also was famous for having a voiceover on Queensryche's Operation Mindcrime.

I'm not familiar with his work, but I do recognize his name. I offer my condolences to his loved ones.

Scott Matter was a DJ at WTYX (94TYX) in the '80s. When WTYX switched to oldies (in 1990), Scott defected to WMSI (Miss 103).

In 1995, Mateer defected to WJKK (Kapital Kountry 98.7), and was there for a few years.

In 1999, Mateer defected to WYJS (Oldies 105.9), but left sometime before the station switched to all-'80s (105.9 The Maxx).

Woah... 105 went all-80's?

It has been ages since I listened to the radio. :D

WYJS was all-'80s...but only briefly (May 27, 2002-January 12, 2003).

Your knowledge is amazing, Jeff. My radio listening days ended when Z106 went to John Boy and Moron in the morning. I have the honor of being the second person to tell Tiana (sp, probably) that it sucked.

I stumbled onto the news of Mateer's death through Wikipedia, of all things. I'm really sorry to hear about his passing. He and Jim Chick were my morning wake up crew as the Dawnbusters back in high school.
