From http://www.clarionledger.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060927/NEWS/60927020 :
"Technical difficulties at clarionledger.com's hosting site in Virginia are delaying posting and site changes."
VIRGINIA??? So much for supporting local web hosting talent, huh? But they're a big corporation: I suppose I can't expect them to actually give back to their community.
I despise the CL more and more every day.

TCL feeds money back to Gannett by buying their ludicrously expensive hosting.

I've found it nearly impossible to view stories on their site now that they've implemented the age/location function. All I get are blank pages after entering data on a Mac using Safari. You'd think since they have quite a few Macs, they'd know this problem exists...

Show of hands on who thinks they care. It's like all those Weekend boxes they put out to compete with us. They don't bother to weight them so they don't blow around. And you're lucky to see the new issue in the Fondren Corner one before the, er, Weekend. But, hey; it's a great corporate way to "compete."
Rolling eyes.
I still say: Focus on reporting first; then worry about all the new toys. They're just window dressing if you don't tend to your core competency and the reason for a newspaper existing.
But, I'm happy to say, that they will not listen to me. ;-)

I think the editors at CL were irresponsible for printing this letter today:
Check Rumsfeld's ties to N. Korea now
I can't for the life of me understand why the "neocon Bushbots" continue to blame Bill Clinton for all the GOP failures.
Every time another neocon is exposed as either a crook or pedophile, you got it, Clinton is to blame somehow. One letter writer has already blamed Clinton for the North Korea nuclear test. So, let's throw another name in the mix: Donald Rumsfeld.
There are several Web sites that show Rumsfeld had ties to the light water reactor sale. As of late, Rumsfeld is being very, very quiet on the issue. So now Bush, in trying to cover for Rumsfeld, wants to hold talks on his terms. I urge anyone to research this and draw your own conclusions.
On any search engine, type in "Donald Rumsfeld ties to North Korea." There will be several sites to chose from, so choose the spin to your liking; they all say basically the same thing. Enjoy!

Why doesn't this guy mention some links in his letter? I can not believe the editor allowed this trash to be printed. I don't like Rumsfeld. I wanted him gone a long time ago, but this is nothing but smearing someone with nothing to back it up. I know Ms. Ladd would not let someone get away with this on this site.
My gripe for the day. carry on.

I read the Sunday Southern Style section for the first time in a long time.
I can remember when the CL had a Sunday arts and leisure section. I could read book reviews, arts reviews, and other cultural items of interest. Today I saw a 6 page rag that had nothing but the usual advice for the upset columnists and other mundane articles. Naturally there is the local columnist featured who is I think supposed to be a humorist but I'm not quite sure. For a paper that is supposed to be the flagship of Mississippi, it sure seems like it is regressing to the dark ages, not the new age.
