Levee Board Meeting
Members of the Rankin-Hinds Pearl Flood and Drainage Control District hold their monthly meeting.
The Pearl River Vision Foundation is a non-profit, private foundation and a partner to the Rankin-Hinds Pearl River Flood and Drainage Control District (sometimes referred to as the Flood Control District or the Levee Board).
The Rankin-Hinds Pearl River Flood and Drainage Control District is a public body created by the Mississippi Legislature and given the responsibility for flood protection within the Pearl River Basin in the Jackson Metro area. The District’s board of directors is comprised of one member of each of the following; Jackson, Flowood, Pearl, Richland, Hinds County, Rankin County and the State Fair Commission.
The Levee Board has a public duty for developing a plan for flood control in the Jackson Metropolitan area. In discharging that public duty, the Flood Control District has formed a strategic public private partnership with the Pearl River Vision Foundation “PRVF,” a 501(c)(3) nonprofit foundation. Together, they are tasked with developing a conceptual flood control plan for the Jackson Metropolitan area that will provide cost-effective, comprehensive protection from Pearl River flooding, while also providing significant economic development and environmental enhancement opportunities for Hinds and Rankin Counties.
