FANCIEST DOLL IN THE UNIVERSE
Written by Jane O’Connor
Illustrated by Robin Preiss Glasser
The mega-bestselling picture book phenomenon, Fancy Nancy, is known to millions of little girls for her dazzling wardrobe, her impressive vocabulary and her fondness for anything French. This spring, HarperCollins Children’s Books will publish the next, eagerly anticipated picture book in the series, FANCY NANCY: FANCIEST DOLL IN THE UNIVERSE.
Fancy Nancy’s sister JoJo can really be a pest sometimes …like when she put Easter-egg dye in the kiddie pool and dunked Frenchy in it! But this time she’s done something really bad, and Nancy is livid (that’s fancy for très angry and upset)! JoJo drew a tattoo on Nancy’s precious doll, Marabelle Lavinia Chandelier! Even worse, it’s in permanent marker …that means it will never come out! When Mom suggests a fancy doll party to make Nancy feel better, Nancy is excited to accept. But when Marabelle gets mixed up with another doll, is the doll drama over? Fancy Nancy fans and their très fancy dolls will delight in this sweet story about the love little girls feel for their favorite dolls…and their favorite sisters!
Also coming this spring, Fancy Nancy will hit the road for the first-ever FANCY NANCY MOBILE TOUR. Beginning on May 1st, Robin Preiss Glasser will embark on an 8-city mobile tour that includes stops in Albuquerque, NM; Amarillo, TX; Oklahoma City, OK; Tulsa, OK; Little Rock, AR; Oxford, MS; Jackson, MS and Fairhope, AL. Follow Robin’s adventures on the road on the Fancy Nancy Facebook page: www.facebook.com/fancynancybooks.
With more than 22 million books sold since the series launched in December 2005 and more than 300 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list, the Fancy Nancy franchise shows no sign of slowing down. Jane O’Connor and Robin Preiss Glasser have appeared on The Today Show, The Martha Stewart Show and on TLC’s Mall Cops and have been featured in more than 100 daily newspapers.
The Fancy Nancy series has been translated into 17 languages and has more than 30 licensees to date. In 2008, Fancy Nancy was named the Book Character of the Year by Global License. Fancy Nancy also received two nominations for the Toy Industry Association’s Toy of the Year Awards, two nominations for the 2009 LIMA International Licensing Excellence Awards and was named the Best Character Brand Program of the Year.
About the illustrator:
Robin Preiss Glasser has had two successful careers, the first as a ballet dancer and the second as a best-selling children’s book illustrator. After an 11 year career as a soloist with Pennsylvania Ballet, Robin returned to school at age 30, receiving her BFA from Parsons The New School for Design. Her first book, Judith Viorst’s Alexander, Who’s Not (Do You Hear Me? I mean It!) Going to Move, was made into a musical produced by The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. Robin illustrated two additional books for Ms. Viorst, three books with Jacqueline Preiss Weitzman, including the ALA Notable Book You Can’t Take a Balloon into the Metropolitan Museum, and three acclaimed history books with Lynne Cheney, the vice president’s wife. Robin illustrated beloved radio star Garrison Keillor’s Daddy’s Girl, the charming A Sock is a Pocket for your Toes by award-winning poet Elizabeth Garton Scanlon, and Tea for Ruby by Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York. In 2005, Robin was paired with author Jane O’Connor for the now classic and beloved Fancy Nancy series. The series, which includes over 50 books, has been on the New York Times Bestseller list for over 300 weeks. Robin lives in San Juan Capistrano, California, with her husband, attorney Bob Berman, two children, Sasha and Ben, and their dog, Boo.
