Farish Street Baptist Church will celebrate its Annual Black History Month African Marketplace on Saturday, February 23, 2013 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Church Fellowship Hall. The Program Theme this year is “AT THE CROSSROADS OF FREEDOM AND EQUALITY: THE EMANCIPATION PROCLAMATION AND THE MARCH ON WASHINGTON”. An afternoon panel will address 3 important anniversaries in the history of African American people: 1863- The Emancipation Proclamation; 1963 – The Civil Rights Movement/March on Washington; and the last 50 years, 1963-2013.
The panel speakers include Dr. Matthew Holden, Judge Tomie Green and Dr. Robert Smith.
Local merchants and artists will showcase their goods and talents and SOUL FOOD sampling.
