Back to School Celebration and Supply Giveaway

Jackson students receive free school supplies while they last. Includes giveaways and activities for youth and parents.

Join Mayor Chokwe Lumumba, the City of Jackson, 99 Jams and Kixie 107 for a citywide celebration to kick off the 2013 school year. The Back to School Celebration & Supply Giveaway will take place this Sunday, August 4, 2013 from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. at the Metrocenter Mall.

The 2013 Back to School Event will kick off with words of encouragement to parents and students by Mayor Chokwe Lumumba, followed by Jackson Public School Superintendent, Dr. Cedrick Gray. The event continues inside the Metrocenter Mall where parents and students will have the chance to interact with vendors specializing in the fields of health and wellness, sports, education and community services.

This year’s event will also include a school supply giveaway for students in the city of Jackson, preparing and motivating our city’s youth for a successful 2013-2014 academic school year! (Supplies are limited and will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis.)

“Start Strong, End Strong” the 2013 Back to School Celebration & Supply Giveaway is presented by Mayor Chokwe Lumumba, the City of Jackson, 99 Jams and Kixie 107. The event is brought to you in part by Sonic.
The 2013 Back to School event is free of charge. The event will take place Sunday, August 4, 2013 at the Metrocenter Mall located at 3645 Hwy 80 West.
